Blue Hill defines the Green Technology sector to include all technologies and services that reduce the net consumption of natural resources. This sector is also known as "CleanTech". Relevant technologies lower energy and water use and reduce operating costs, optimize industrial processes and reduce waste. They improve operating efficiencies and general productivity, and provide important environmental benefits, often including significant reductions in associated pollution. Examples of industries that Blue Hill considers to be a part of the sector include:

Energy Efficiency: Energy conservation and efficiency technologies and services including lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation, demand side management, and high efficiency on-site generation technologies.

Renewable Energy: Technologies that produce power from renewable resources, such as solar electric, solar thermal, waste fuels, geothermal resources, hydropower, biomass and wind.

Resource Efficient Manufacturing Processes: Technologies that make industrial processes more efficient and less costly, thereby reducing consumption of natural resources and generation of waste.

Environmental Remediation: Companies active in areas such as pollution control and recycling.

Resource Recovery: Technologies that produce marketable products from municipal, industrial or agricultural waste material.

Water and Waste Water Treatment: Advanced technologies and solutions applicable to water and waste water treatment.
